The Lion Inn, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire

When we think of winter weekends, we long for crisp, cold walks in the open countryside followed by an impressive Sunday roast beside a roaring open fire. This is most definitely the place for that. Set on the edge of the stunning Cotswolds, The Lion Inn is a 15th century coach house turned award-winning pub and recent CAMRA winner. Choose one of the eight beautifully decorated rooms and look forward to selecting something from the delectable menu come dinner time.

Stay here for: Walking, eating and relaxing to your heart’s content
It’ll set you back: Around £125 for a standard double room
Which DuoBoots to pack: Oakford or Bramley in water-resistant brown nubuck leather. Durable, hard-working and just itching to take you on some bracing country walks.

Flear Farm Cottages, nr Totnes, South Devon

If you fancy a winter weekend break with the little ones in tow, you’ll need somewhere that has plenty for them to get stuck into, preferably on site. Flear Farm Holiday Cottages definitely delivers, from the huge indoor play barn and heated indoor pool to the 26-acres which are ready to explore. Take those waterproof puddle suits and wellies along to pass hours splashing in the edge of the stream, exploring the extensive woodlands and saying hi to all the animals. You might even be able to sneak off for a quick spa treatment if the other half obliges.

Stay here for: Outdoor adventuring, visits to wintry beaches and a chance to reconnect as a family.
It’ll set you back: Around £160 per night for a cottage that sleeps 4, with a 3-night minimum booking.
Which DuoBoots to pack: Choose Western-inspired Brampton. Perfect to throw on with skinny jeans and an oversized jumper for casual comfort when you’re hanging out with the kids.

No. 15 Great Pulteney, Bath

Describing itself as ‘luxury for the curious’, and with interior design from some of the UK’s brightest and best, this boutique hotel embraces impressive contemporary art and playful lighting at every turn. Located slap bang in the centre of the city, just a short stroll from Pulteney Bridge, you’ll be right in the heart of the action when it comes to exploring Bath’s wonderful Christmas market. When not out and about, you can enjoy the indulgent spa, intriguing cocktails or impressive dining experience.

Stay here for: Exploring the city sights and visiting the Bath Christmas Market.
It’ll set you back: Around £135 for a standard double room
Which DuoBoots to pack: Choose Cabell for relaxed city chic, or add on-trend biker style to your outfit with Camden. And why not try them in person while you’re in town by visiting our Milsom Street store?

Wyatt Castle, Portland, Dorset

Fancy getting away with a large group of friends? Why not live it up for the weekend by becoming the lords and ladies of the manor…or in this case, the castle? Wyatt Castle is a centuries-old, real-life neo-Gothic castle that’s featured in films and even played host to royalty in its time. The castle sleeps 20 and is available for private hire from £7,450 for a weekend.

With sea views, an indoor swimming pool, an Italian garden with its own waterfall as well as the ability to sit 100 people for dinner, not to mention a private chef to cater for them, we can’t help thinking that’s pretty good value.

There’s even a helipad should you need it!

Stay here for: Finding out how the other half live.
It’ll set you back: From £124 per person per night.
Which DuoBoots to pack: Feel like the star you were meant to be in our Amery statement over-the-knees in indigo blue suede.

Wherever you decide to head for your wintry weekend getaway we hope it’s filled with festive cheer, memories made with loved ones and of course beautifully fitting boots.
